剧情介绍：The film opens with the lines “O Somma Luce,” the title of the film and the 67th line of the 33rd canto in Dante’s Divine Comedy (Paradiso), continuing through the end of Paradiso. It is an experimental work that integrates music and literature, foregoing traditional emotions and narration. The film begins with a black screen accompanied by Edgard Varese’s music, specifically his 1954 piece "Deserts." After a period of darkness, the music fades, and a middle-aged man, Giorgio Passerone, an Italian literature professor, is seen sitting on a hill reciting lines from the final section of Dante’s Paradiso. Director Jean-Marie Straub conveys his interpretation of Dante through subtle accents and dialects.
